Year of the Dragon

First original piece of 2024, and it's actually a redraw from 2012!~ Unapologetically sharing the cringey old one beside this.

Being one of the only Chinese zodiacs in girl form that I've gotten around to, this year my mom requested for a sequel.. and who am I to deny my biggest fan? 🥰

12 years ago, I was lacking so many of the basic skills. No sense of anatomy, hiding the hands to avoid drawing them, failing to understand light direction and how shadows express the volume of shapes. Despite how little I knew, I was always trying to push myself to make unique things, it was 100% about the fun. These days I can't help but strain for the best results possible, forever looping in "the next piece will be better". Yes I will always have much to learn, but 2024 will be more about the fun again <3

I also find it a tad bit charming that I kept the thicc lineart style after all these years.
